300,000 Hondurans Illegally In The U.S.
The US Department of Homeland Security just released the most recent numbers for illegal immigration in the United States. There are an estimated 11.6 million unauthorized immigrants believed to be in the U.S. Of these illegals, Mexicans comprise the most, with 7.03 million. After Mexico comes El Salvador (570,000), Guatemala (430,000), the Philippines (300,000) and Honduras (300,000).
Living in Honduras has not changed our stance on the issue of illegal immigration in the U.S. If you are illegally in the U.S. you are breaking the law and deserve to be punished. The immigration laws need to be strengthened and enforced…period!
Here is the dilemma for the average Honduran - if a person works as a day laborer in Honduras they can expect to earn about $3,000 a year. That is for working five or six days a week, 52 weeks a year. If that same person sneaks into the U.S. illegally and does the same work, they can earn the same amount in less then two months. If they are caught they are not prosecuted in the U.S. or Honduras and the U.S. government pays to fly them home.
Crossing a boarder without permission is illegal, immoral and sinful. Please pray for those who struggle with the temptation to break laws in order to better provide for their families.
