7.1 Earthquake

earthquake off HondurasAt 2:24am Thursday morning a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake rocked Honduras.  It was centered 80 north of our little town of La Ceiba.  One person is reported killed in a collapsed home and we are worried about more.

The main tremor shook the country for more than 30 seconds in the middle of the night and a tsunami alert was maintained for more than 90 minutes for Honduras.  From our perspective, as earthquake experienced Californians, it was quite the mover and shaker.  We were all up and out of bed and running for the exits, but no major problems.

We are fine and well.  We lost a few picture frames and glasses, but all is well.  We lost power, internet and cell service for a while, but everything is coming back.

We are heading out to Armenia Bonito to asses the damage out there.  Please pray for them.  It is the people who have the less structurally sound houses we are worried about.
