Another First For Jorge
Jorge is one of the boys in Armenia Bonito from whom we periodically see sparks of hope and glimmers of leadership. Jorge’s mother died last year. He and his dad live together in poverty in a small home in Armenia Bonito. As a 12-year-old boy, he raises himself.
We have seen hope and growth in Jorge and have tried to draw it out of him. He has been involved in most of our events and we have treated him to numerous special outings. His financially poor and limited life has not allowed him many experiences outside Armenia Bonito.
We are responsible for numerous firsts in Jorge’s life. We took him to a restaurant for the first time. We took him swimming in the ocean for the first time. We fed him Chinese food for the first time. We took him to the local soccer stadium for the first time where he watched his first live professional soccer match.
Tuesday night another milestone was created for Jorge. We took him to the movie theater for the first time in his life. We watched “Night in the Museum 2”. You should have seen him jump at some of the loud points in the movie. He really enjoyed it.
Jorge has many problems and he is in and out of church. He fights, pushes and yells. But, other times he prays, hugs and helps. As we build stronger bonds with Jorge we often see that we become more frequent targets of his rage and his love. Pray we are able to impact Jorge’s life.
