Blessings In The Heat

Just moments ago the power came back on in our home after being out for over eight hours. That doesn’t seem like that big of an issue until it happens to you.

It was so hot and humid that we all just sprawled out on the cool tile floors and sweat all day with no fans to cool us off. The pressure pump wasn’t working so we didn’t have enough water pressure to take showers or flush the toilet. The ice was melting in the freezer so no cold drinks. No computer or television to entertain us.

What did we do? Read the Bible, read our books, worked on ministry and talked to each other. What a concept. Eight hours of enjoying the important things.

It was a forced unplugging of our lives to again experience the simple things. And, a forced reminder to appreciate God's blessings we frequently take for granted.
