Book Review: Reason To Believe
In this book R.C. Sproul addresses many of the more difficult questions with intelligence and passion. This book is designed to enable the reader to answer the cynical questions people have about Christianity. This book is a useful tool for the Christian and the non-Christian. Sproul accomplishes much with this book. He manages to instruct Christians in areas that some consider dilemmas of their faith while at the same time offering a way for them to disprove objections posed by skeptics. The reader is enabled to refute arguments in simple and effective ways, using verbiage that everyone can understand. Thankfully, the eternal truth is not sacrificed. Sproul does not water down or weaken the Gospel. He does not turn to popular secular answers. He rest on the truths as provided by God in a way that will satisfy the doubter.
Sproul explores some common and some not so common arguments against Christianity: does the Bible contradict itself, aren’t all religions the same, what about the unreached, church is for the weak and is full of hypocrites, why does God allow suffering, and much more. The hard questions are addressed fully and in great detail. He charges headlong into controversy and refuses to skirt awkward topics.
