Book Review: The Plan of Salvation

The Plan of Salvation by B.B. WarfieldThe Plan of Salvation is a series of five lectures originally delivered by B.B. Warfield. The topics include: Differing Conceptions, Autosoterism, Sacredotalism, Universalism, and Calvinism.

If we believe in a God, we believe in the control by this God over the world he has created. We must then believe in the plan outlining all that God does, and also in His plan of salvation. What then is God’s plan for salvation?

These lectures by Warfield present a logical and incisive examination of God’s plan of salvation from sin. They provide a valuable tool to a systematic review of the biblical truths to God’s plan of salvation.

Warfield identifies the vital questions linked with God’s plan of salvation. He provides a detailed analysis of the most dangerous answers that men have created to those questions. He outlines the detriment to men’s souls and the impact on God’s glory which results from those errors.

Warfield masterfully states, outlines and dissects the major views of the created’s relationship to the Creator. The topics cover the span from a salvation possessed by all to salvation given by God to those he chooses.

If you are not sure where your theology is classified, read this book. Warfield succinctly outlines all major types of Christian theology. The book has a very useful table on "The Decrees of God" that also explains nearly all theological sub-groups within the spectrum of the Christian church. It is useful for Christians to posses this knowledge.
