Boys Day Out – Games, Pizza And Jesus
On Saturday we hosted a boys day at our home. Mike and our teammate Sean brought seven boys from Armenia Bonito over for a fun day. These kids seldom get out of the poor community of Armenia Bonito, and when they do they dress up in their Sunday best.
At 11:00am we all headed to our home, where we played video games with the kids. Most of these kids have no experience with video games and they found it difficult to learn. But, they had great fun playing car racing, sword fighting and boxing. They played elimination tournaments, where the best keep playing and the looser sits down. This allowed all of them to get lots of game time.
We broke for lunch and ate pizza. As usual the boys ate like it could be their last meal for a few days. They stuffed themselves. During the lunch break Mike provided a message on sin, salvation and heaven. He shared with the boys a basic message on Jesus’ plan for our lives.
At the end of the day the boys did not want to go home. They whined and begged for more. We promised them there would be other opportunities. With this promise of future fun they all piled in the car and headed back to Armenia Bonito.
