Clap On, Clap Off

Yes, living in a developing country is different than the U.S. in many ways. Utilities and public services are inconsistent and less reliable. One moment you have full water pressure and the next you don’t…and then it is back on again…or not.

The electricity, cell service and internet are the same. You may have uninterrupted service for weeks, and then it is intermittent for days.

You may exercise yourself into a sweaty mess only to discover the water is out and you can't shower. Or, you might invite friends over for dinner to find the power goes out while your meal is cooking.

None of this is abnormal and it becomes less bothersome each time. Our power goes out or flickers so often that we only seem to notice because the fans stop blowing on us.

Sure, you can complain, but to who? It just is. You kind of get used to it and appreciate it more when it is consistent.

Trust in God, don’t sweat the little things and just move on. I’d better post this blog entry before the power…
