East Lanier, Electricity And English
On Sunday our third short-term mission team of the summer arrived…to a dark Honduras. Moments after they stepped foot in our home the power went out in the entire country. It was out for 2 1/2 hours. Was this a sign of things to come? This young and energetic 17-person team is from East Lanier Community Church in Buford, GA.
On Monday the team got started on their first full day of ministry. They continued construction on a home for a single mother in Armenia Bonito. The team also helped construct the foundation for a building on our ministry center. In the afternoon the team helped to teach an English class for the people of Armenia Bonito. Since the World Cup has just begun the theme of the class was soccer terms.
Mike is in Atlanta for a week. He is recruiting future missionaries, raising financial support for our ministry center and training new missionaries in communication. On Sunday Mike gave two presentations about our work in Honduras…once to a church and a second time to a group of missionary recruits.
On Monday Mike worked completely with the group of missions recruits. In the morning he presented a biblical devotional on missions. After lunch Mike sat on an informational panel with other missionaries and after dinner Mike prayed with several mission recruits about their call to missions.
