English Class With Special Guests

On Monday Mike, Erin and Madison taught an English class in Armenia Bonito. We had our usual 20 students. But, this week we had three rather persistent guests. Three mangy dogs found their way into the class and refused to leave.

ESL with dogsSkinny malnourished dogs are everywhere in Armenia Bonito. That is not uncommon. Usually most dogs are treated poorly and rather skittish around humans, not these three. Often a stomp of a foot will send a dog running for the door, not these three. So, the entire class was spent with three dogs walking around the class…not a usual occurrence in the U.S.

Erin took the two advanced students and Mike and Maddy worked with the beginners. The students worked location and time words – between, until, etc. Mike’s class had particular difficulty with on and in (which are both “en” in Spanish).

Class was concluded with pronunciation and vocabulary practice using a Bible passage.
