English Instruction In Armenia Bonito - Second Class
Mike and Erin are teaching English. We taught our second English as a Second Language (ESL) course in the community of Armenia Bonito. This was the 2nd of 10 weekly classes we will teach to this group. These classes are on Thursdays from 9am to 11am.
Last week we started with 25 students. Today we had 33 students. All but one or two of the students know no English at all.
We divided the class into two groups with Mike leading one group and Erin (called Tereza here in Honduras) teaching the other. We worked on basic English sounds, basic greetings, numbers and body parts.
We hosted the class in the town hall in the poor community of Armenia Bonito. We had 95 degree heat, 90% humidity, no lights or fans, heavy rain falling on our tin roof, and noisy herds of cattle passing by outside. But, we had interested and excited students.
After class we hosted a brief medical clinic for the students. About 10 stayed to receive evaluations, medicine and evangelism.
This was the first time we drove our newly purchased pickup truck to Armenia Bonito. What a benefit it was to be able to bring folding tables and plastic chairs with us.
