Football In The Mud
On Wednesday we went out to Armenia Bonito and played soccer with two dozen kids. As we regularly do we just parked the truck near the soccer field and brought a soccer ball. The little kids sit in the back of our truck and the older kids play soccer with us.
It has been raining a lot so the field was covered in mud and standing water. When that happens everyone plays barefoot. Not sure why, but, ok. There was lots of slipping and sliding and much falling. We were filthy. After the game there was a quick trip down to the river with some of the kids to clean off.
We have been going out to Armenia Bonito a couple of times a week to simply play with the kids. We are trying to build relationships, and trust and learn names. In January we are looking to start a weekly Christian kids program and these regular play dates are helping us get to that point.
