Gift Bags, Cam And La Carpio

The river next to La CarpioAfter school yesterday Mike went out to La Carpio and spent some time ministering to the kids.  La Carpio is a poor community where tens of thousands of people live in shanty homes built of scrap metal and plywood.

Today we worked with 90+ kids.  Our friend Cam, missionary to Columbia, joined us and did a great imitation of a jungle gym. Mike is starting to develop a great bond with several of the girls who are in the 7 to 10 year range. During play time Mike jumped rope with 4 or 5 different girls and sat down and talked with several on his lap at once. One of our teachers from school, Dixiana, joined us and read the resurrection story for the kids. During story time Mike sat on the ground and had 4 kids on his lap. Next, Mike and 10 of his closest pals completed a craft of paper machete crosses.
