Good English Class And Kids Club Blessing
On Monday Madison and Mike taught a English class with over 20 students. Some of the students have been having trouble keeping up, so we went back to basics for a one weak breather. We worked on salutations, numbers, colors, days and months. The students enjoyed the brief step backwards.
On Tuesday Mike organized our 2nd Veggie Tales themed Kids Club. The plan was to schedule the games, craft and message around the presentation of a 30-minute Veggie Tales movie in Spanish. Mike went to set everything up…and…no power was available in Armenia Bonito’s town hall. Can't play a DVD without power. Completely caught off guard, it was now time to improvise. Clearly we were going to scrap the Veggie Tales theme and save all that for next week. But, now we were left with no plan and few options for a Kids Club that was scheduled to start in two minutes.
We played some games and Mike decided to give an impromptu lesson on "prayer" and then told the kids we would conclude by hosting a kids only prayer meeting. That didn’t go over too well. Several audible groans were heard. We started with 35 kids and that quickly dropped to 20, and then down to 15 before we even bowed our heads. As we prayed one kid left, then two more. By the time we had prayed for 25 minutes we were down to six kids from 35. What a bust…or was it? How many times have you seen six preteen kids pray for 25 minutes straight? The more we thought about it the cooler it was. Six young kids stayed on their knees for 25 minutes praying to our Father. Yep, pretty successful event indeed.
