Gringo Church, Child Abuse And Lost Bags

On Saturday our newest short-term mission team arrived in Honduras. This energetic bunch is from Village Seven Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, CO. Unfortunately, American Airlines sent some of their bags to Haiti.

The team had a very busy day on Sunday. In the morning we guided several of them through a child sexual abuse awareness program called Darkness to Light. At noon the team ate lunch in the cars as we drove them around La Ceiba for a guided tour.

Mike preaching at Gringo ChurchIn the afternoon the 20-person team joined us at our weekly Gringo Church. Our teammate Shannon did a wonderful job leading us all in song with Erin accompanying on the piano. Our teammate John led us in a period of prayer. Mike then delivered a message to the group from Romans 8. Finally, we all took communion delivered by a pastor from the team.

After dinner we took the team out to Armenia Bonito for their first experience in Honduran church.

Now the workweek begins. During the coming week the team will help us put on three medical clinics, two Kids Clubs, one English class and work on the construction of a new house for a single mom of three.
