Gringo VBS In Honduras
Our merry band of missionaries here in Honduras consists of eight adults and five kids. Our kids frequently work by our sides as we serve the people of Honduras. But, often our own kids get neglected as we spend long hours working with Hondurans. Our mission team realized some of our own kids hadn’t experienced a vacation bible school (VBS) in nearly four years. So, our team agreed that we would organize a gringo VBS for our own kids.
This past week we hosted our first ever gringo VBS in Honduras. It took place over four days and lasted two hours each day. The theme was “The Life Of Jesus.” Each morning our kids were treated to games, songs, bible study and crafts. The daily themes of our VBS were “Jesus in the Old Testament”, “the life of Jesus”, “the crucifixion of Jesus” and “the resurrection of Jesus”.
Erin organized the daily games. The kids had an absolute blast. Ashlee and Shannon led the kids each day in singing. The kids loved their infectious passion. Mike directed the kids each morning through an original bible study. The kids were very attentive. Kate and Kathy took the kids through a new craft each day. Each daily craft reflected the study of that morning. And, Kathy provided yummy snacks for the kids.
It is important to remember that while God has sent us to serve the people of Honduras, we should never forget our most important ministry…the raising of our own families in a godly way. Thanks to each of our teammates for loving our kids so much.
