Health Classes In Public Schools
On Tuesday our team started a new ministry. We began teaching health classes in the two public schools in Armenia Bonito. We will be teaching health classes twice a month. Five separate classes were taught to 210 kids in six grade levels.
Here is the biggest difference between public school in the U.S. and Honduras – we have been encouraged by Principal to include a biblical component. After each class we will be exploring what the Bible has to say about the topic and we will include a Gospel message.
Our first class was on “Eating A Balanced Diet”. The kids all received a lecture and handouts. Future classes will be on Vitamins And Minerals, Dental Hygiene and more. Our teammate Lindsey McCann has a degree in Health & Exercise Science and Erin is a Registered Nurse. The knowledge that these two bring is a wonderful resource.
