La Carpio Christmas Party
Today the Pettengills joined 10 other missionaries from our language school in organizing a Christmas party for 225 kids at La Carpio in San Jose, Costa Rica. La Carpio is a barrio in San Jose where the poorest of the poor live in a landfill.The party lasted more then three hours and consisted of games, face painting, lunch, ice cream and gifts for all the kids.
We all three played games with the kids and Maddy and Erin helped cook and serve food, serve drinks and spoon ice cream for everyone.
Erin’s friend Denise flew in Friday to spend two weeks vacationing with us. She learned on her first full day in Costa Rica that if you want to vacation with missionaries you better plan on spending at least one day hanging out in a landfill playing with underprivileged kids (boy, don't we know how to show people a good time). Denise, no newcomer to missions, jumped right in and loved on the kids.
