Little Carnivals In The Neighborhoods Of La Ceiba
As we mentioned recently this week is Carnival here in La Ceiba. It is the biggest Carnival in Central America. La Ceiba is expected to grow to four times its normal number of people by Saturday.
There are numerous competitions, concerts, parades and more surrounding Carnival. The biggest attractions are the various “Carnivalitos” (little Carnivals) in neighborhoods. Each night a different neighborhood hosts a Carnivalito.
Thursday night the neighborhood of El Sauce hosted a Carnivalito. It had four stages with live music, dozens of food vendors, carnival games, souvenir stands, and lots of alcohol. It took up four blocks. It got rolling around 9pm and shut down around 4am. Several thousand people lined the streets, danced, drank and ate.
There is a Carnivalito each night leading up to the big event on Saturday. We will keep you informed.
