Mike’s Dad In The Hospital
On Thursday evening Mike’s 85 year old dad was admitted to the hospital after blacking out. His blood pressure is low and his kidneys are struggling. There is no real understanding as to the origination of the problem - his heart disease, pace maker, prescription medication or the kidneys themselves. Tests have been run and the doctors are trying to stabilize him.
This is causing a bit of guilt in Mike. This guilt is not uncommon in missionaries. As loved ones struggle back home missionaries often labor as to where their proper place is – serving Christ where they have been called or supporting their family.
While we have recently done some wonderful things here in Honduras, shouldn’t we be by our family to support the ones we love the most? We have made daily calls to Mike’s dad and, even from thousands of miles away, Erin’s medical knowledge has been a benefit.
In the end we all must acknowledge that God is in total control and that He can be a better support then we can. We know that God called us to be here and we know life will continue back in the U.S. Our job now is to pray and find joy in the fact that God is in control.
Please pray for the physical needs of Mike’s dad and pray that Mike maintains comfort in knowing that we are exactly where God wants us to be.
