Ousted President Back In Honduras

Honduras’ ousted President Manuel Zelaya is back in Honduras. He is currently taking shelter from arrest in the Brazilian embassy in the countries capital of Tegucigulpa. Zelaya said in a broadcast on Venezuela’s government-run Telesur network. “I’m here to initiate a dialogue.”

Zelaya has spent the past three months outside of Honduras (or at its borders). There are currently several government issued warrants for his arrest and the government has said that he will be arrested immediately upon his return.

The Honduran government has ordered a curfew incase the ousted leader's return sparks demonstrations. President Roberto Micheletti says the curfew starts at 4 p.m. on Monday and ends at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.  Nobody is allowed to leave their homes during this period.

We had planned on starting a new round of English classes in Armenia Bonito this evening, but we heard the news of the curfew at 3:30pm while driving out to teach our class. Needless to say, we turned our car around and arrived back home just as the curfew began.

Keep praying for Honduras.
