Out With The Old, In With The New

New President Pepe LoboWednesday was a big day in Honduras. Recently elected, Pepo Lobo, was sworn in as President of Honduras. In the eyes of many this brings to a close an ugly chapter for Honduras that began back in June of 2009. Lobo, a Conservative, begins his term alongside a Congress that is now a majority Conservatives.

Old President Mel ZelayaAlso on Wednesday, Manuel Zelaya, the ex-President of Honduras stepped out of the Brazilian embassy, where he has been held up since September. Zelaya, who was arrested in June and removed from office, departed Honduras bound for the Dominican Republic, where he will live in political exile.

The period of healing is over and now it is time to rebound. Honduras suffered greatly during the six-month political turmoil. It is estimated that the unemployment rate is now above 50%.

Please pray for the people of Honduras.
