Pray For Ariel
Ariel is a 16-year-old boy from Armenia Bonito who has spent much time with us. He has helped out in health clinics, kids club and other events. We have gone to professional soccer games with him and had lots of fun. Sean and Mike have played soccer with him countless times. Ariel is sometimes a handful, but we enjoy spending time with him.
Last Saturday we hosted a soccer tournament for 40 boys from Armenia Bonito. Each kid received four games, refreshments, transportation and a Bible message. We provided different colored t-shirts for each team. At the end of the day we asked for all the shirts back so we could use them at a future tournament. Several of the shirts came up missing.
On Tuesday we went around asking about the shirts and we saw one hanging from Ariel’s clothesline and took it. Later that day we confronted Ariel about the shirt. He first denied having it, then when Mike produced the shirt and told him where we found it he said that he was, “just cleaning it for us”. After further grilling from Mike, Ariel admitted to stealing it from us. Ariel and Mike then had a long and heated conversation.
While the event was unfortunate and frustrating for us it provided a good teaching opportunity. We ask that you pray for Ariel and for Mike and Sean who must struggle with trust and forgiveness.
