San Carlos Mission Trip

Mike giving the Gospel to the orphans at San Carlos, Costa RicaErin, Madison and Mike joined 30 other missionaries from the Spanish Language Institute on a three day mission trip (November 2 - 4) to San Carlos, Costa Rica. San Carlos is a very poor community about 3 hours north of San Jose. Our group did street evangelism, A happy boy with his new gift bagconstruction work, a women’s group and work with the local children.

The Pettengills were in charge of two projects – 1) a youth event for all of the youth (10 years and older) in San Carlos, and 2) an orphanage event for the nine boys that live Fun and games with the kids of San Carlosin the San Carlos orphanage.

At the community event we had 50 kids attend. We played lots of fun games with the kids and Mike delivered a Gospel message.

When we went to the orphanage we gave a Gospel message and played games. In addition we were able to give the boys gift bags that included (toothbrush, soap, stuffed animal, Bible picture book, crayons, and many other items).  These gift bags were provided by one of our supporting churches, Valley Springs Presbyterian Church, and the kids loved them.

The event was a great opportunity to show love and care for the kids here in Costa Rica. We look forward to returning to San Carlos in the near future.
