Sand, Cysts And Samaritans

Our 20-person short-term mission team has had a couple really busy days. The two 10-person teams come from Manor Presbyterian from Cochranville, PA and Covenant Community from Scottsdale, AZ.

Both Wednesday and Thursday the group did some wonderful construction work in the mornings. They worked simultaneously on a new house for a single mother named Maria and a guard shack for our ministry center. They built the walls high and strong.

Erin and the boys out on the boatWednesday afternoon we packed 60 kids from Armenia Bonito into a bus and drove them to the beach for a day. Each kid received a big plate of fish, rice, beans, plantains and a salad for lunch. After lunch the kids played in the river and in the ocean. They had such a fun experience. Some of the kids told us that even though they only live five miles from the beach they had never before seen the ocean.

Thursday afternoon we put on a medical clinic. We treated 35 patients with prayer, evangelism, diagnostic care, health education and free medicine. Dengue is on a dramatic rise in Honduras, so we spent some time educating the community about its causes. 60+ at Kids ClubThe last patient Erin treated was a three year old with a cyst on her butt the size of silver dollar.

In the afternoon we hosted our second Kids Club of the week. Over sixty kids came to hear the story of the Good Samaritan. They sang some fun songs and completed some really cool crafts.
