Saving A Leg

healing the legMore then two months ago one of the kids we hang out with in Armenia Bonito ran up to Erin and said, “You have to come see my neighbor.  Her leg looks really bad.”  It turns out the lady was bitten by a dog.  Worse yet, the lady had diabetes, which made the healing process very difficult.

The lady’s leg was bad!   Erin says, “In my 14 year nursing career I’ve only come close to vomiting three times.  Seeing this leg was number three.”  The lady’s leg had such a severe infection that Erin figured amputation was a very genuine probability.

Erin visited the lady’s home once or twice a week.  She provided care, medicine, prayer and motherly lectures.  Erin assessed, cleaned and changed the bandage on the wound each time.  Slowly the leg began to heal.

After a dozen home visits we are pleased to announce the lady no longer needs Erin’s services.  The leg is fine.  Erin was able to provide a tangible example of God’s love and mercy to this woman.  This woman is so poor and was so ill that without God using Erin to intervene, amputation and death were real possibilities.  Amen!
