Sweatin’ For Christ?
Ok…you may have heard of prayer walks…where you walk through a community and pray over those things you see. Mike is into prayer runs. He did this the whole time we were in Costa Rica, and, on Saturday he was able to take his first prayer run through La Ceiba, Honduras.
Think of the spectacle of this bald, bearded, very sweaty (don’t forget the 85% humidity), gringo running through the ghettos of La Ceiba, Honduras. Mike ran through some of the poorest communities greeting everyone he saw. Mike’s greetings received echoes back of “ahy gringo”, “ja Rocky”, and, “bienvenidos”.
This accomplishes several things; 1) exercise, 2) prayer, 3) helps Mike to get to know the community better, and, 4) gets his face out there. No it’s not a big thing. But, if you are foolish enough to run in this heat you might as well accomplish something else while you’re doing it.
