Missiology Through Scripture – Psalm 77:14

“You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.” – Psalm 77:14

Our God is a wonderous God who acts outside of science and time. His miracles are beyond our comprehension and explanation. His creation is not capable of describing the Creator or his works. Yet, he is benevolent and loving enough to make us part of the implementation of his salvific miracles. Man strives for knowledge and achievement. But, it is God who is perfect in wisdom and the architect of all. The beautiful actions of our Lord are full of mercy and justice. Christian disciples should marvel in God’s wonders and bring him glory by telling of his splendor.

The wonders of God were never intended for us to be able to understand. It is our faith in him which shows our undying allegiance. Christian disciples move forward in faith, trusting the plan being implemented by the Creator of the universe is moral and good. We are to abandon inaction and be actors in God’s play. God’s sovereignty does not absolve us of action but gives our actions authority. Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, “With God, one does not just mark time but one walks along a path. Either one moves ahead or one is not with God. God knows the entire way; we only know the next step and the final goal. There is no standing still; every day, every hour, one progresses.”[1] Prayerfully consider how your actions conform to God’s will. Be a doer of God’s glory and not a spectator.

God’s general revelation has made his accomplishments undeniable to all the nations. He still desires his missionaries to be used as special revelation. Missionaries are how God brings his truth in word and action to those who have acknowledged his reality in nature. God’s truth is irrefutable, and the nations await God’s army of missionaries to attest to his grace.
