The last two evenings we have hosted dinners to get to know some new friends.
On Wednesday we had a dinner/meeting at our home with Eric Pennings the Central America Coordinator of the Miami International Seminary (MINTS). Eric was traveling through La Ceiba on his tour of seven countries and wanted to talk about the possibility of starting a MINTS program here. In short, MINTS is a theological education system that would allow us to provide free or cheep theological education to Hondurans in Spanish. This would be a great system to educate possible leaders in a church plant. It was a joy to get to know Eric and learn more about MINTS.
Thursday night we hosted Grant and Hope Staples for dinner. They are here in La Ceiba for the Summer to study Spanish and get a better vision of how they can be used in Honduras. Hope has lead short term mission teams to Honduras for years. The two of them are now coordinating a program to fill the needs of long term missionaries in Honduras by coordinating short term teams to work where talents are needed.
After dinner with the Staples we read the Bible and sang praise songs. Grant is an accomplished pianist and an experienced worship leader. It was a great time to get to know some new friends.
