Our First Short Term Mission Team Heads Home

Dr. Jim treating a little girlFrom July 26th to August 2nd we received our first ever short term mission team.  The team was a group of seven people from Grace Community Church in Mobile, AL.  Yesterday we dropped them off at the airport and said goodbye.

The group had abilities in numerous areas with a majority of the team having a medical background.  Since medical/mercy ministries is a major part of what we want to accomplish here in La Ceiba this was a wonderful fit.

For three days the medical team worked in Atalantida Public Hospital serving the poor of the community.  In three days two of our doctors treated 100 patients.  At the same hospital our orthopedic surgeon and nurse performed nine complicated surgeries.

In both the public hospital and our medical clinic the team handed out Spanish language evangelism tracts and shared Christ’s love if hundreds of people.

In addition the group purchased and cut lumber for the future construction of 11 bunk beds.  They also helped clean and maintain our home.

This first ever mission trip was a wonderful experience that really launched this ministry into the community.  Thanks to the group from Mobil.  We’ll see you next year.
