Mike and Sean are attending MTW’s Disaster Response training in Valencia, Pennsylvania. The training lasts until May 10th. It prepares volunteers to respond rapidly to calls around the world to bring medical care, crisis counseling, and engineering/construction assistance after a disaster strikes.
On Tuesday and Wednesday our 15 person training group spent our time in a classroom setting. We learned about immunizations, legal requirements, funding, theological justification, kidnapping, gear, maps, GPS, and setting up camp.
On Thursday we will hike out into the woods where we will camp and set up mock clinics and our temporary homes (tents). While camping we will continue our instruction outdoors. We will be taking courses, receiving training and living in the wilderness for three days.
Mike is going to be attending some pretty cool training seminars. Stay tuned for pictures and stories as internet access allows.
