Construction, Kids Club And Coups

Our visiting short-term missionaries from Houston Lake Presbyterian Church in Warner Robins, GA and Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Douglasville, GA worked hard on their last full day in Honduras.

construction siteWe started the day with four hours of construction on our second house.  The team mixed mortar and laid cinder blocks to raise the walls of the house to four feet.  The progress has been great, but we will have wait for the next short-term mission team to continue work, as we ran out funds and supplies.  The house will sit unfinished for a week, but should be done within two weeks.

kids clubIn the afternoon the team put on a Kids Club for 25 children in Armenia Bonito.  We played games and sang songs with the kids.  They then watched our skit on Ruth.  We concluded the Kids Club with a great craft that involved painted footprints.

Monday is the second night with a mandatory 9pm curfew.  The new sitting President has begun appointing his cabinet and the ousted President plans for a return to Honduras later this week.  There are isolated protests in Tegucigulpa (300 miles away), but nothing here in La Ceiba.  In fact, this afternoon we saw no police or military anywhere in town.

Tuesday morning we will get our visiting mission teams onto their flights and send them back to the U.S.  Pray that we have no problems in that area.
