English, Tortillas And The River

Our visiting missionaries from Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina have had a busy couple of days.  These 15 short-term missionaries are enduring the heat and the long days and are providing a great help.

English class with Sovereign GraceTuesday afternoon we taught an English class in Armenia Bonito.  Twenty adults and kids attended.  After a lesson the class broke into small groups for pronunciation practice.  Our team did a great job providing proper English pronunciation for the students.  English frequently opens employment opportunities for Hondurans.

making tortillasOur group continued construction on a new home for Marcos and Jolie.  On Wednesday, after a morning of construction, we ate lunch at a family’s house in Armenia Bonito.  The ladies in our group hand made tortillas and then we all ate baleadas and papas fritas for lunch.

swimming in the riverIn the afternoon we took 15 of the local kids to the river and spent a few hours cooling off and fellowshipping.  The kids challenged our team to lots of new adventures.  Our team really enjoyed playing in the river, almost as much as the local kids did.  Lots of fun for Americans and Hondurans alike.
