Hot Weather And Open Hearts

We are hosting our first two (of 16) mission teams of the summer. Naperville Presbyterian of IL and Wellington Presbyterian of FL have been serving well in the 90-degree heat and 90% humidity. This has been our biggest week of ministry ever in the community of La Fe.

Tuesday in La Fe the team from Wellington hosted a Kids Club. They played with the kids, read to them and gave a Bible message. In the afternoon the team continued with the construction of a cement-walking path up a dirt levee that becomes impassable in the rain.

Wednesday morning the group was back in La Fe playing in the river with the kids. With absent fathers and laboring mothers these children seldom receive quality time with adults. In the afternoon the group hosted a hot dog lunch for Kate and some of her streetkids and in the afternoon they did some construction work on our ministry center in La Isla.

Our team has been so blessed this week. The group from Naperville has been working side by side with John and Kathy Clow helping them finish dorm projects and really serving our team. In addition Gabe, a diesel mechanic from Wellington, has spent some time under the Clow’s van trying to bring it back to life.

Thursday will be a busy day. In La Fe there is more construction in the morning and an English class in the afternoon and in Armenia Bonito we will host a medical clinic.
