Dentist, English, Kids And Sewing

So far this week hurricane Ernesto has been a major focus in La Ceiba. It was headed straight for us for a few days then intensified and veered north. We received lots of rain, but we kept right on going with our daily ministry. Our two short-term mission teams have been pretty wet, but their spirits are not dampened.

The team from Faith Presbyterian Church of Ballentine, SC has been working in La Fe and in our young mother’s home, Puerta de Esperanza (PDE). A few ladies have been spending time at PDE to help teach the girls to sew. The group from Faith as been doing construction work in La Fe and taught a great Kids Club in the rain. They have also hosted two dental clinics and pulled dozens of teeth for the residents who could not otherwise afford it.

The team from Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church of Tucson, AZ has spent their time working in Armenia Bonito. On Monday they laid several rows of block for the walls on a new house for the Hernandez family. In the afternoon they helped teach an English class to 30 kids. On Tuesday Rincon spent the morning helping to build an exterior wall at our downtown ministry center. In the afternoon they helped host Kids club for 75 kids.

Despite hurricane Ernesto changing our plans and dumping rain on us it has been a wonderful past few days. If you would like to keep up with the work of the teams from Faith or Rincon visit this blog often or follow us on Twitter.
