High School Progress Report

IMG_3953The construction of our high school on our property in Armenia Bonito has been a major focus of our ministry, but even more so in the past six months. The average Honduran only has 6.1 years of education and less than 1/3rd of the kids attend high school. Our goal is to have our school completely constructed by the end of 2013 and to be open for business for the next school year (February of 2014). If you’d like to watch a short video about the school go HERE.

Our very talented Honduran workers are showing some IMG_3957amazing skills and pride. All of the glass windows, bug screens and security windows have been installed. Several of the rooms have been painted, including the walls and ceilings. Our workers have started painting some of the walls, ceilings and trim.

The teacher desks are all being made from scratch and are almost finished. Now the first 30 (of 120) student desks are being built from scratch. The student desks will be a classic design with frames made of metal tubing and seats and writing surfaces of wood.

IMG_3950We purchased and planted 40 fruit trees around the school. The trees will provide lots of shade and plenty of free fruit for the students and teachers.

We have all the money we need to complete construction of the high school. We now need to raise the money needed to hire the teachers and run the school. We need to raise $100,000 by the end of December in order to open the school in February. If you would like to make a onetime contribution via debit or credit card click HERE.
