Training and preparation are very important for the mission field. Studies have shown the more a missionary is trained and evaluated before they begin doing mission work the higher the probability they will complete their first term and return for a second term. It is important for our ministry that each member of our team receives the valuable tools they need to bring God glory.
Even with that, this week is a little odd. Currently our team has eight missionaries in other countries receiving valuable training and nine missionaries working in Honduras.
Mandy Marcone and Lauren are in Belgium concluding their month of cross-cultural training. Our sending agency (MTW) requires this month-long Cross-Cultural Missions Internship. Mandy is transitioning from intern to two-year and Lauren is raising support before leaving the US to join us in La Ceiba.
Mike and Ashley Troxell are in Atlanta, GA for a mandatory week-long reentry counseling. Each time a missionary concludes a term of service they are required to attend this event. It is a chance for MTW to check a missionary’s emotional and spiritual pulse. Mike and Ashley are currently on furlough. They just finished a two-year term in Honduras and will return in May to begin a four-year term.
Adam Cain and Aaron Halbert are in Orlando, FL for the four-day Global Church Advancement Conference. This is a church planting conference that will give them tools to be better church planters. Adam is already serving with us here in Honduras and Aaron is raising support before leaving the US to start a new church planting team in the capital city of Tegucigalpa.
It is our prayer that each of our teammates is able to absorb that knowledge which helps them to better serve the Lord on the mission field. Please be in prayer for all of teammates.
