Our second medical clinic in La Ceiba, Honduras is located just a few blocks from the heart of downtown. This urban medical clinic is located on our downtown ministry property. When it is finished it will be run by our future teammate Renee McLaughlin, who is a physician assistant from Atlanta.
Renee, and her husband Seth, are currently attending language school in Costa Rica. They are expected to arrive in Honduras in August.
The clinic will have four exam rooms, a pharmacy, a patient waiting area, bathrooms and storage. It will likely attract many of our lower economic neighbors in the surrounding communities. The population who will benefit from this clinic cannot even afford the government subsidized medicine at the public hospital.
The construction workers on this clinic have completed the foundation and all of the exterior and interior walls. The concrete roof is framed and ready to be poured, but we are currently at a standstill due to lack of funds. We can’t afford the cement, sand and rocks needed to pour the roof.
Whenever the clinic is finished Renee will hire Honduran staff and open for business. This will be a great blessing to be able to provide the mercy of Jesus Christ to some of the most needy and desperate people in the Western Hemisphere. While their bodies are being healed they will also receive a heavy dose of prayer and evangelism.
The good news is that we have been given a $25,000 matching grant for this clinic. Every dollar we receive will be matched 1:1. The bad news is the matching grant expires in a few months and we haven’t received much interest. If we can’t match the donations we loose the grant. If you would like to be a good steward of God’s resources and double your contribution you can give to the building of this medical clinic right now by clicking on THIS LINK.
Please pray for the funds needed to serve these needy people.
