Our MTW mandated furlough in the US is rapidly approaching. We leave Honduras on June 28th. The planning and details are coming together, and it is shaping up to be a whirlwind of activity. Our furlough will consist of visits to 20 churches, in eight states, in four time zones.
Our family will fly from Honduras to Philadelphia and then spend five weeks making missions presentations in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. After a short visit to Arkansas to visit Maddy’s college, John Brown University, we drive west to Arizona.
A friend has offered us a partially furnished home in Phoenix to live in for the duration of our furlough. Starting in August Erin and Mike will be living in Phoenix and Maddy will go to Arkansas to start college.
Erin will need to get a nursing job in Arizona to help provide for us. Since Erin will be working while on furlough Mike will be doing most of our church visits on his own. Beginning in September Mike will be visiting one church in Arizona and one church in California each month. We will also have extended trips to visit churches in Utah and Washington. In addition we have three international trips for missions training purposes.
As our furlough begins to take shape it begins to look busier and less restful. While we love sharing God’s work with our sponsoring and praying partners we do pray for some time resting and healing.
