Our dear friends, Chad and Mindy Hertzell, came to Phoenix and visited us for a week. They came to hang out, talk, relax and love on us.
The four of us ran an 11-mile Tough Mudder, went shooting, attended three Spring Training baseball games, went hiking, cooked, laughed, played card games, watched movies, and just had a great time. Chad and Mindy are two people who know us very well and refuse to let us hide from the truth or lies we tell ourselves.
It is spending time with our friends and church family we miss the most while we are on the mission field. On the mission field you live in a fishbowl. Missionaries still have many of the same problems you have back in the US, but when you are in a far off country your support group is not with you. Often it is hard to address your problems without your support group support you and hold you accountable. It has been such a blessing to spend time with people who know us so intimately.
“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” – Proverbs 18:24
