Mike And Erin In The Dominican Republic – Final

Mike and Erin have concluded their time in the Dominican Republic attending the Latin American Missions Conference put on by Mission To the World. The event was attended by MTW’s missionaries throughout Latin America.

Erin participated in a panel of female missionaries talking about women’s issues on the mission field. Erin helped throughout the panel, but was asked to share specifically about raising a child in a violent culture. She shared with the group how God’s sovereignty must remain the focus of raising your child. She talked about how we covet safety and security and shouldn’t place those false idols ahead of God’s glory.

Erin was also asked to present our ministry in Honduras to the entire group. She told all the missionaries what God is doing in Honduras and showed a video presentation. The entire group then prayed for our mission team.

Mike helped guide a group of nine missionaries in 90 minutes of prayer for each other.

Mike and Erin shared meals with each Mission Team Leader and the their spouse from the Latin American region. We shared time with the missionaries in charge of Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica. During these meals we all shared our mutual concerns and talked about how we could work together to expand God’s global mission together.

Mike And Erin In The Dominican Republic – Part 2

Mike and Erin are in the Dominican Republic attending the Latin American Missions Conference put on by Mission To the World. All of MTW’s missionaries throughout Latin America are attending this conference.

Mike provided a brief morning devotional for the 40+ staff and volunteers leading the children’s program for the missionary kids. Mike reminded the group they do not posses the skills to glorify God and that God does not desire to use men and women of great ability, but instead he wants men and women who find their value in him. Mike also continued to share each meal with a different member of Team Honduras so as to catch up and mentor them in private.

The time spent meeting with old and new missionary friends has been wonderful. Catching up and planning for the future has been beneficial. The teaching and daily preaching by MTW’s Director, Dr. Lloyd Kim has been from Ruth and has been edifying. As a 10-year missionary himself Dr. Kim knows how to speak into a missionary’s heart.

The conference continues until Monday morning.

Mike And Erin In The Dominican Republic – Part 1

On Tuesday Mike and Erin arrived in the Dominican Republic to attend the Latin American Missions Conference put on by Mission To the World. All of MTW’s missionaries throughout Latin America are attending this conference.

Shortly after arriving Mike hosted a team meeting of Team Honduras. Shortly after we all participated in a Central American meeting with all the missionaries from Central America and the Caribbean.

The missionaries have received great teaching from our Director Lloyd Kim. Mike and Erin facilitated a meeting on women’s issues in MTW. And, Mike has been sharing private meals with our teammates to touch base and catch up.

So far it has been busy, but productive. To our accountability friends, no, no rest yet.

Mike In Cambodia – Part 2

imageMike spent this week attending the Mission to The World leadership conference in Cambodia. Over 130 MTW missionary team leaders, national partners and staff attended.

On Wednesday the group started the day with singing and worship. The morning preaching was done by MTW missionary and Director of the Lausanne Movement, Michael Oh. It was a joy to hear from Dr. Oh during the week. In the afternoon the group concluded their small group discussions. Mike’s group did a wonderful job addressing the topic of collaboration with the broader body of Christ.

imageThursday the group had the opportunity to worship through singing and prayer twice during the day. Victor Nakah gave the morning sermon and MTW’s new Coordinator, Dr. Lloyd Kim concluded the conference with wonderful evening message.

On Friday morning Mike boards his first of four flights and will spend 36 hours traveling back to Phoenix.

This was a wonderful opportunity to network and learn from so many missionaries who have so much to teach and such diverse experience.
