November 9, 2016 is the 10-year anniversary of our missions website. We made our first ever blog post on pettengillmissionaries.org on November 9, 2006.
For a missionary website to last 10-years is amazing. Heck, for any website to last 10-years is amazing. The original MySpace had a six-year run before it was redefined and rebuilt as a social entertainment site instead of a social networking site. Seriously? We beat MySpace? Cool!
But, more rare than simply existing for 10-years is the fact that this website has been prolific in posting regular updates and continued to received heavy traffic. It has been used as a ministry tool that continues to connect us (the missionaries) with you (the prayers and supporters). The site has not only been a source of keeping in contact with supporters, but it has been a way to teach and educate about God’s mandate for global evangelism. In the life of this website it has been visited by people in more than half the countries in the world.
This website was launched 3,657 days ago. In that time we have published 1,848 blog posts. That equates to one missions related blog post every 1.9 days. In addition the site averages over 250 original visitors each day. That means 250 different devices (phones, laptops or desktops) visit this site everyday. Over ten years, for a missionary site, that is astonishing.
Thanks to you, this blog has turned into a valuable ministry tool, in and of itself.
Our Pettengill missions website has received a major facelift. This new and improved website not only has a new look to it, but it has evolved to keep up with our growing ministry in Honduras.
Our original website lasted almost six years and served us well. This new and improved website helps better emphasize the way we communicate with our prayer warriors and financial supporters. Two of the major improvements are: 1) The front-page of the site shows our most recent Twitter posts. Twitter is the most effective way to keep up with our ministry. Now, even you do not have a Twitter account can follow along, and 2) The five most recent blogs are now visible on the front page. We post new blogs at least every other day and provide lots of new information and pictures. If you don’t visit daily you can now quickly see the posts you’ve been missing.
There are many more benefits and useful tools for those who wish to follow and pray for this ministry. We invite you to surf around the site and let us know what you think. Please share our website with a friend.
We just launched our website to all of our friends and family. We have received a great response and we couldn’t be more happy. Many people have dropped in to visit. It has been a great joy. Our website was designed by our dear friend Erik. He has volunteered his time and effort to advance the kingdom. People have already begun using our site to contribute financially and we have had many people sign up to receive our e-mail updates.
We plan on updating the site frequently and we want people to come back and visit often. There will be regular blog and picture updates to keep you all up on what is going on with us. We do not want this to be about us. This is about God and the team that He assembles. We are going, but you are on the team too. Your daily prayers and financial support put you smack in the middle of our team.
