Erin In California For A Mission Conference

mission conference flyerErin is in California for a little over a week. While there she is visiting two supporting churches as well as her very sick mother who is still in the hospital. Erin’s primary reason for the trip is to participate in the first ever mission conference at Soaring Oaks Presbyterian Church in Elk Grove, CA.

Erin will make several presentations and host a table at the mission conference. Our daughter Madison even produced a video to be shown to the kids attending the conference.

Abounding Grace, the local radio show on KFIA radio, produced and aired a thirty-minute interview with Erin to learn more about our ministry and the upcoming mission conference. You can listen to the entire thirty-minute interview HERE.

If you are in the Sacramento area prayerfully consider attending the mission conference this Friday (6:30p – 9:00p), Saturday (9:00a – 3:30p) and Sunday (10:00a – noon).

Sharing About Honduras In South Carolina

Mike spent the weekend sharing our ministry with the good folks of Faith Church of Ballentine, SC. Faith has been a supporter of our ministry since the beginning. They have supported our work in many ways and have sent two teams to Honduras to work with us.

Saturday night Jim and Kathy White hosted a Honduras dessert. Mike told 15 people about the recent ministry developments in Honduras.

Sunday morning Mike visited the 5th grade Sunday school class. Many of these kids had previously raised money to support our Streetchild program and had written letters for our kids. Our Honduran kids wrote letters back. Mike delivered those letters and pictures of our kids.

Mike at FaithDuring the church service Mike was afforded an opportunity to address the congregation and update the church members about how God has been working in our ministry and what the future looks like. The church prayed for Mike’s health, our family and our work.

On Sunday evening Mike attended a group study. This small group from Faith was studying the book Radical by David Platt. Mike had read this challenging book and was able to participate in the discussions.

Thank you to the Whites for hosting Mike and to Faith church for laboring by our side.

Mike Sharing In Alabama

On Saturday Mike drove from Atlanta to Mobile, AL to spend some time with the good folks at Grace Community Church. Grace was an early supporter of our ministry and has been down to Honduras on three short-term mission trips.

On Sunday Mike will speak at Grace Community. He will give brief missions updates to the congregation during the two morning services and will teach a 45-minute Sunday school class on prayer.

Following some lunchtime fellowship with Grace members Mike will make the 5+ hours drive back to Atlanta.

Erin Back From Mission Conference

On Monday Erin arrived back in La Ceiba safely. She traveled for 24 hours via car, plane and bus from Paso Robles, CA to La Ceiba, Honduras.

Erin at CovenantShe spent two days visiting her mom in the hospital and three days at a mission conference hosted by Covenant Presbyterian Church. The mission conference was Covenant’s first ever. Erin spoke with several small groups about Honduras. She made a 45-minute presentation about our ministry and even sat on a panel with our boss, Dr. Paul Kooistra, the Coordinator of MTW.

Dr. Paul KooistraThe participation in the mission conference was great and the excitement about our work in Honduras was overwhelming. Covenant is very familiar with our ministry. They have sent two short-term mission teams to Honduras in the past and are sending a third this summer. We have visited Covenant several times in recent years and dearly love their dedication and heart for the Great Commission.

It is such a blessing to have been a part of such an exciting event.

Two Church Farewells In One Day

Our family spent Sunday visiting two of our supporting churches and saying farewell to lots of friends.

In the morning we attended Covenant Community Church of Scottsdale. Pastor Barnes preached a wonderful message following a half-dozen baptisms. It was a very emotional service and it was a joy to say goodbye to many friends and supporters. We look forward to seeing the team from CovCom this summer in Honduras.

In the evening we made the 5-hour round trip to Tucson to worship with Rincon Mountain. We heard another great message and received communion. There are so many great people at this church and we also look forward to seeing a team from Rincon down in Honduras this summer. After service we enjoyed a great meal with the missions chair and his wife, and the leader of the short-term team and his wife.

We said so many emotional goodbyes in one day but that simply affirms that we have made so many new friends in recent months.
