East Lanier, Electricity And English

On Sunday our third short-term mission team of the summer arrived…to a dark Honduras. Moments after they stepped foot in our home the power went out in the entire country. It was out for 2 1/2 hours. Was this a sign of things to come? This young and energetic 17-person team is from East Lanier Community Church in Buford, GA.

first day of constructionOn Monday the team got started on their first full day of ministry. They continued construction on a home for a single mother in Armenia Bonito. The team also helped construct the foundation for a building on our ministry center. In the afternoon the team helped to teach an English class for the people of Armenia Bonito. Since the World Cup has just begun the theme of the class was soccer terms.

Mike presenting our workMike is in Atlanta for a week. He is recruiting future missionaries, raising financial support for our ministry center and training new missionaries in communication. On Sunday Mike gave two presentations about our work in Honduras…once to a church and a second time to a group of missionary recruits.

On Monday Mike worked completely with the group of missions recruits. In the morning he presented a biblical devotional on missions. After lunch Mike sat on an informational panel with other missionaries and after dinner Mike prayed with several mission recruits about their call to missions.

Mike In Arizona Day 3 of 10

Mike is in Arizona for a 10-day trip. While in Arizona he will be visiting churches, pastors and church leadership to share our work here in Honduras.

All day Saturday and Sunday Mike spent at the mission conference put on by Covenant Community Church. Mike made four presentations during the mission conference, sharing with the participants about our work in Honduras. Among other topics, Mike shared our vision for the new ministry center in downtown La Ceiba.

Our future teammates, Mike and Ashley Troxell, attend this church. On Sunday morning they were commissioned by the church to head to Honduras and prayed for.

Mike had a great opportunity to talk with and pray with dozens of people who are very excited about Honduras and the Great Commission.

Mike In Georgia – Part 6

On Friday Mike drove to Warner Robins, GA to visit with the leadership at Houston Lake Presbyterian church. He shared with the church how our work and ministry is going. They were very excited to hear about the progress. This church had sent a short-term team this past summer and was already familiar much of the ministry.

Saturday morning Mike had breakfast with our newest teammates, Mike and Ashley Troxell. In the afternoon it was off to do some final shopping for Christmas gifts to take back to Honduras.

Mike will make one more church visit on Sunday and then fly back to Honduras on Monday.
