Meet Our Teammate: Ashley Troxell

Ashley TroxellAshley arrived in La Ceiba on December 13th. She and her husband Mike joined our team for at least the next two years. Ashley earned a bachelor degree in Education. She is from Phoenix, Arizona where worked as a special education teacher.

Before serving fulltime in Honduras Ashley first visited us in June of 2009 when she participated in a short-term mission trip from her church. She previously participated in three mission trips to Washington State, North Carolina and Guatemala. She just completed a year studying Spanish at a fulltime language school in Costa Rica.

Ashley is gifted in the areas of teaching, missions, leadership, intercession and service. The Lord has been preparing her for years for her work in Honduras. She and her husband will serve as Church Planters in La Ceiba. They recently began serving fulltime in the community of La Fe, one of the poorest communities in La Ceiba.

Our team and the people of Honduras are very fortunate to have Ashley serving in La Ceiba. She genuinely loves serving others. Ashley has a great desire to provide Christ’s mercy and justice to the poor.

Please pray for Ashley and Mike as they battle the emotional roller coaster of starting a new ministry so far away from home.

Kids Club And Launching A New Ministry

Dr. Greg and Pastor Mike had a busy couple of days. These two are from Trinity Presbyterian of Harrisburg, PA and are working with us for the week.

Kids ClubOn Wednesday Dr. Greg, Pastor Mike, Erin and our Mike went to Armenia Bonito. The big event for the day was Kids Club. We put on a great bible study for 40 kids. They played games, did a craft and heard the story of Noah. The kids were tested on their catechism question and their verse memorization. The guys from Trinity were super active and involved.

All day Thursday we helped Mike and Ashley Troxell kick off their ministry in our new community of La Fe. Mike and Ashley have begun daily ministry in La Fe and are working towards a church plant there.

Clinic in La FeGreg and Mike helped us put on our first ever ministry event in La Fe. It was a medical clinic that treated more than 60 people. Since this is one of the poorest communities in La Ceiba there were lots of sad cases and really sick people. Showing God’s mercy and love to these people was a great way to introduce our team to this new community.

It was a great past two days.

The Troxells Have Arrived

Mike and Ashlee TroxellMore than two-years after accepting an invitation to join Team Honduras, Mike and Ashlee Troxell have arrived. Our newest teammates are from Scottsdale, Arizona. After a year at language school in Costa Rica the Troxells have joined us for at least two years.

The Troxells arrived earlier this week and have already signed a rental agreement on a house. They have joined us as church planting missionaries. After a time of rest and acclimation the Troxells will begin prayerfully seeking a new community. When the Lord leads them to the perfect neighborhood they will begin daily ministry and relationship building in that area. Our prayer is that after they have been working in that community for a while they establish a new church.

Please welcome the Troxells to Team Honduras and please begin praying for their marriage and the work they will undertake here in La Ceiba.

First Time Ever All Together

Team HondurasHere it is. The NEW Team Honduras. We’ve all previously met each other and have talked for years. But, five minutes before this picture was taken was the first time ever that this version of Team Honduras was ever together in one place. But, not for long.

Shannon, the Clows and the Pettengills are all here in La Ceiba and will continue to be. Kate heads back to Alabama to finish packing and will return to Honduras to begin her service in November. The Troxells return to Costa Rica to finish studying Spanish and will return to Honduras in December.

Everyone got together for our first ever Team Honduras Women’s Retreat. On Saturday evening we had a team dinner together and on Sunday morning we worshiped together.
