This is our 1000th blog post on this website. Our first post was on November 19, 2006. If you are counting, that is five years, three months and 15 days since our first blog entry. That means for the last five years we have been giving you a post every 1.9 days.
Why does this matter? It matters because you are just as much a part of this ministry as we are. John Piper says, “When it comes to world missions, there are only three kinds of Christians: zealous goers, zealous senders, and disobedient ones.” Your call to pray for (2 Corinthians 1:11) and support (2 Corinthians 11:8,9) this ministry in Honduras is just as important and just as much of a calling from God as our call to leave everything behind and move to Honduras.
You and our family have been paired together by God for the benefit of the people of Honduras. It is our job to make sure you have what you need to hold up your end of the deal (Proverbs 27:17 and Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). If we believe all this to be true, and we do, then it would be reckless and irresponsible for us to not provide you with the information you need to better pray for the people of Honduras, our family and this ministry.
We have been asked, “Aren’t you concerned that all the time you put into blogs takes away from your ministry time?” First off, if we can facilitate more people praying intelligently, in the name of Christ, for the people of Honduras, that is not a bad thing. Second, the five or 10 minutes we take to write a blog every other day is the least we can do for the people who make this ministry possible. Missionaries who do not communicate with their supporters should be ashamed of themselves. With the technology available in 2012 there is no excuse not to share God’s glory with the individuals who pray for and support our work.
